How Much Toothpaste You Should Use to Kill Bacteria in Mouth and Get Rid of Bad Breath, Tartar and Plaque

You probably have asked your dentist what is the best toothpaste to use. Well, guess what? Dentists don’t care what toothpaste you are using, because toothpaste is a cosmetic. Dentists have never seen toothpaste that improves dental health of their patients.

Toothpastes are designed to bring a peppermint flavor, or any other attractive flavor that can sell more tubes. Actually, we use toothpastes because they taste good.

So, what are the toothpaste’s ingredients?

Desensitizers

When potassium nitrate or stannous fluoride is added to toothpaste, people with teeth sensitive to cold, hot, or sweets can benefit from it. When the pain is the problem, this acts as a soothing treatment.

Foam

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is soap. Its texture is creamy and thick, and people associate it with the feeling of cleanliness. In toothpaste foam there’s not enough surfactant to break up the goo that grows on your teeth. These bubbles also scrub your subtle gum tissues into a bloody pulp.

Triclosan

This antimicrobial ingredient needs to decrease infections between the gum and tooth. It has been questioned the safety of this ingredients, scientific researches show that the addition of triclosan in toothpaste causes much more good than harm.

Fluoride

This is the first toothpaste ingredient that made toothpaste part drug, part cosmetic. After a certain period of time, fluoride toothpaste can improve teeth strength, but the ingredient itself does nothing to make teeth cleaner.

Tartar control

If you sense a particular biting flavor in your toothpaste, it might contain tetrasodium pyrophosphate. It is an ingredient that is meant to keep calcium phosphate salts (tartar, or calculus) from hardening on the back of your lower front teeth.

Abrasive particles

Hydrated silica is mostly used in toothpastes as the grit that polishes teeth. It is the whitening ingredient in whitening toothpastes. Whitening toothpastes clean only the surface of the teeth. Professional dental cleaning is more effective and less harsh than using whitening toothpaste.

Why toothpastes can be bad for you?

You need to remember that toothpaste is a cosmetic, and it doesn’t clean your teeth by itself.

Toothpaste

Here are some mistakes you do with your toothpaste:

  • You’re using too much

Do not believe in the toothpaste ads because they want you to use the tube more quickly. If you use only the size of a pea, it will still taste good.

  • You are not brushing for enough.

You need to brush teeth at least two minutes, because you will miss spots.

  • Not paying attention.

Pay attention not to miss a large percent of your mount and brush the same spots for two minutes.

Remember that the rubbing cleans your teeth, not the cleaning product. If you want to get rid of plaque, you need to rub it off. There is no cleaning liquid, paste, creme, powder, or gel that can make a great difference, but your attention.

Use whatever toothpaste you want. Choose the one that tastes good and gives you the feeling of cleanliness.

Also, you can use baking soda, or coconut oil. You just need a good technique and to brush often.
